Swift director Mark Thompson is a well-travelled Englishman with a UK military and crime investigation background, and has held permanent residency in south-eastern Brazil since 2003. A qualified English teacher through Cambridge University, Mark also holds the UK Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Translation in the pair Portuguese > English, and is a CIOL member and Chartered Linguist, in addition to holding full membership and accredited translator status with the Brazilian Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association (ABRATES). Mark has published articles in the UK Telegraph and online platforms, and has given presentations on translation, interpreting and fixing at a number of conferences.
